The course will help students gain an introductory understanding in the science of vision, light, and illumination. Students will learn the history of lighting and its impact on the built environment today. The course will cover the anatomy of the eye, lighting units of measure, types of lamps, typical luminaires and their applications, building industry codes and standards, and lighting design. Finally, the course will touch on lighting controls, energy, and sustainability.
