COURSE DESCRIPTION
The IESNA's Fundamentals of Lighting course consists of 10 modules presented over the course of the fall of 2019. Students will meet once a week, on Monday evenings, at James Posey Associates. The course will help students gain an introductory understanding in the science of vision, light, and illumination. Students will learn the history of lighting and its impact on the built environment today. The course will cover the anatomy of the eye, lighting units of measure, types of lamps, typical luminaires and their applications, building industry codes and standards, and lighting design. Finally, the course will touch on lighting controls, energy, and sustainability. Four homework assignments will be distributed throughout the course and there will be a final exam.
